Beaucon-le-Château is about to be declared The Most Beautiful Village in France. At the same time, the second round of local elections might see a Populist Front candidate take over as mayor. At La Part des Anges, the village pub, the town’s key players are debating whether the current mayor or his opponent will win. A series of unexpected events then disrupt the election process, proving Winston Churchill’s famous assertion: Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.
